Letters of Support for Hawthorne Project

The following are letters of support we have recieved throughout various stages of our park project on 118th Street and Doty Avenue in the City of Hawthorne from elected officials, environmental groups and community members.

FLTS Current Projects

Currently FLTS is working to convert a vacant lot in the city of Hawthorne into a neighborhood park. FLTS is working with the city and community members to create a successful plan of action.

Marked lot:

On the corner where 118th street and Doty Avenue meet.

Size:

13,068 sq. ft.

Vacancy:

Close to 20 years

Lot Owner:

as of July 2006, California Department of Transportation (CalTrans)

Violations:

Large garbage piles, overgrown grass and weeds (which poses a fire threat), car vandalism, prostitution, presence of rodents, raccoons, large cockroaches and opossums. (as reported by neighbors)

Proposed plan:

A neighborhood park or community garden - final decision to be made by community members
