Hawthorne Needs this park

I grew up in the inner-city of Los Angeles, and the local park was my salvation. The park was actually about three miles away from where I lived, but it provided open space for recreation. The park could have been ten miles away, and I would have still huffed it all the way there on a hot day.

The park was a place where I could play baseball, run around with my friends all day, and play games such as “Hide-and-go-seek.” It was a place where I could wear my Davy Crockett cap and be instantly transported to the old West on an adventure. They call this recreation, and many of today’s inner city children lack this opportunity.

Many children who live in areas such as Hawthorne do not have the opportunities to take vacations where there are open spaces to play. A park, such as the one Viviana wants for Hawthorne, would give the children a place to get away from their environment and grow.

Viviana, please send me an email. I would like to make contact with you, and perhaps I may be able to help.

Sincerely,
Frank Ponce
