FLTS proud to be part of Verde Coalition
The Verde Coalition is a diverse coalition of environmental, community and labor organizations working to create new parks and open spaces to serve our Los Angeles’ low income neighborhoods that have the most residents and fewest parks.

Vacant Lot Beautification Project, 118th Street & Doty Ave (Hawthorne, California)
Currently FLTS is working to convert a vacant lot in the city of Hawthorne into a neighborhood park. FLTS is working with the city and community members to create a successful plan of action.

On the corner where 118th street and Doty Avenue meet.

as of July 2006, California Department of Transportation (CalTrans)
Violations:
Large garbage piles, overgrown grass and weeds (which poses a fire threat), car vandalism, prostitution, presence of rodents, raccoons, large cockroaches and opossums. (as reported by neighbors)
Proposed plan:
A neighborhood park or community garden - final decision to be made by community members
